Certificated Mental Health Courses
The Results Centre Mental Health Instructor, Julia Hepworth is licensed to deliver Certificated Mental Health Courses on behalf of Mental Health England.
We offer a Half Day Mental Health Awareness, a 2-day Mental Health First Aid Course and a four-hour MHFA Refresher (Mental Health England).
MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID COURSE
Format
This course can be delivered two ways:-
- Online (through the Mental Health England Learning Hub) Online Learning takes place through four live training sessions
- Face to face delivery
Delegates
Online or face-to-face delivery – up to 16 delegates
ONline delivery
- 4 online live sessions – around 4 hours each
- The course offers a flexible delivery schedule, allowing you to tailor it to your and your learners’ availability. You can choose to run the course over two days (with two sessions each day) or over 4 mornings or afternoons, ideally within a 2-week period.
- Course manuals and an online mental health first aid course workbook will be issued to learners, and access to the MHFA England Online Learning Hub, a platform designed to enhance your learning experience, will be provided via a Zoom platform.

Delivery is face-to-face over 2 full days – 15 hours of interactive learning
Content
The content of online or face-to-face courses includes the following:-
- A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- An understanding of the mental health continuum as well as mental health illnesses and behaviours in detail
- The ability to spot the signs, symptoms and triggers of mental health issues and mental ill health
- Knowledge of the risk factors and treatment options for mental illness
- An understanding of stress, anxiety, anxiety disorders and depression
- The confidence to approach, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhancing interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental and empathetic listening
- Knowledge so that employees can be supported and guided to receive appropriate help
- Creating a workplace culture which encourages good mental health practices
- Using preventative methods to maintain mental health inside and outside the workplace
Other topics covered within the mental health programme include suicide, eating disorders, self-harm and psychosis. Training includes explaining the steps for applying Mental Health First Aid in each situation to promote recovery

- What mental health is and how to challenge stigma
- A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
- An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing
- Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue
